Here’s how we’re monetizing Anthea Turner’s websitePOSTED IN: WEB SITES |

Blueflamingo web design have been working with Anthea Turner and sister Wendy to "monetize" Anthea’s website which attracts thousands of visitors each month (around 7,000 unique visitors in fact, which is likely to shoot up once she stars on Dancing on Ice from January!).
Many people visit www.antheaturner.com looking for tips on how to create the “perfect home” … and let me tell you Anthea has got a lot of tips! On her site Anthea recommends a whole load of products and brands that she genuinely believes in, and we are trying to ensure that they give her credit for doing so. How are we doing that? … there are a few ways...
One is by creating an affiliate marketing campaign where a company sits in between a publisher website (in this case www.antheaturner.com) and the product websites and tracks the traffic that leads to conversations. The publisher is rewarded with a small cut of any sales. There a few companies out there that do this. Our favoured supplier is Viglink, a Google funded venture who have an ever growing relationship with product websites across the world. Anthea's Viglink campaign has been up and running for a couple of months now and we are starting to see results.
We built a newsletter template and a sign up form to capture visitors' data from the website. From this Anthea has started to communicate on a monthly basis with her fans, informing them about what she has been up to as well as providing product recommendations - this started with her "top tips for Christmas" edition which received an astonishing 73% open rate (yes, we're jealous...). We are able to code "link wrappers" into her recommendations so she continues to get the benefit of her affiliate scheme even though people are not directly visiting her website.
Next we moved onto Anthea's social media marketing, starting with Facebook (www.facebook.com/antheaturneronline). Though Anthea has been pretty active on Twitter, she has not given her Facebook presence too much attention to date. First, we branded Anthea's Facebook page in the same look and feel as her website and newsletter. Anthea will be starting to post regular content on Facebook - some around her latest exploits, such as Dancing on Ice, and others around top tips and product recommendations. Again, we will code "link wrappers" into her Facebook recommendations to take advantage of her affiliate scheme.
Finally, we're using Google Adsense, a service which displays text or image based ads on a webpage that are relevant to that page’s content – then pays the website owner if someone clicks on these ads. After ensuring that only ads appropriate to Anthea's brand are displayed we took the campaign live, which is now performing well.
