Top 3 useful tips and toolsWe'll keep our collective ears to the ground day and night to listen out for tips, tools, and best practice advice to help you improve your website: 1 - Adobe BrowserLab - does your site look the same across browsers?Adobe have launched their BrowserLab service, free for 12 months if you sign up now, that allows you to view web pages across multiple browsers and operating systems. Does your site look the same in FireFox, IE7, IE8, Safari? Typically such compatibility has been tricky to test so it's a breath of fresh air that here it is now all in one place. Find out more here: browserlab.adobe.com/en-us/index.html. 2 - Free tools for tracking backlinks to your siteIt is estimated that 70% of the criteria used by Google to determine what web sites rise to the top of their listings is the quantity and quality of the back links (links from other websites to your website). Yahoo! and Google provide tools to allow you to track them for free - Yahoo!’s being a little more straightforward. On Yahoo!, visit www.yahoo.com and enter linkdomain:yourwebsite.com into the search box. Voila. On Google you’ll need to sign up for Webmaster tools (www.google.com/webmasters/tools/). 3 - Make your links much shorterIts not new but we find it very useful - visit bit.ly. This is a great tool where you can submit a long link (eg www.blueflamingo.co.uk/site/ This is very useful in Twitter where you have limited characters. We have used it to tweet about this newsletter for example! |
What have we been up to?New offices, new website, new clients! The past 12 months have been pretty busy for the Blueflamingo team. After we moved into our new offices back in December 2009 (please stop by for a coffee and a chat if you are in the area) things have been non-stop. We’ve been lucky to work with clients in brand new areas - a rowing club, a new political party, an image management consultancy, and a wakeboarding club from Yorkshire to name but a few! We found time to launch our new website too. I’d like to thank our clients for their support and if you haven’t used Blueflamingo already why not give us a try in the new year? Take a look at www.blueflamingo.co.uk for a closer look at how we can work with you. Until next time... Mark Francis |
